The I-10 freeway in the Greater Los Angeles area is expected to see up to 350,000 cars a day in the coming decades. SBCTA worked with Michael Baker to design a new, 11-mile stretch of high-volume, high-speed, multilane freeway for a new tolled Express Lane facility. Malcolm Drilling, the drilling contractor, looked to Nucor Skyline to manufacture the 11,000 permanent, DCP nails that were used for shoring walls required to hold back the soils and vegetation bordering the new lanes.more
