Port of Port Arthur Berth 6 Expansion

Orion Marine Group worked with Nucor Skyline on the expansion of Berth 6 at the Port of Port Arthur. The project consisted of a combi-wall, made of 42” x 0.650” pipe piles and NZ 22 sheet piles, which were 99 feet in length and an anchor wall, made of NZ 28 sheet piles. All products were coated with coal tar epoxy prior to shipping. Nucor Skyline’s Geostructural Group supplied 119 tie rod assemblies, all of which were #28 bar and reached 102’ in length. Five articulated connections were used for each tie rod assembly, which were encased in 12” high-density polyethylene pipe, to enable them to move without breaking in the difficult site conditions.
